Costa Rica hosts the U20 Women’s World Cup on August 10 – 28. Nigeria, the two-time finalists, won their first match against France (1-0). Ghana was the second representative from Africa, but they lost to the United States (3-0).

Nigeria is among four countries that have participated in every Under-20 Women’s World Cup since its creation 20 years ago. The Super Falconets made it to the final two times (2010 and 2014). But they lost to Germany’s women’s soccer superpower Germany each time.

United States sweeps Ghana
Ghana, on the contrary, was the other representative from the black continent. The Black Princesses, three-time champions of the world, were swept away by the United States (3-0). Ghana finished the match at 10. Jacqueline Owusu, who was expelled at the 31eMinute of play.
