BANK Windhoek was recently awarded the Best Foreign Exchange Bank in Namibia.
According to a statement, the award was given by Global Finance, a leading international portal and magazine in the financial sector, London.
“Global Finance covers various areas, such as banking, trading, technology, tax and legal, and asset and wealth management,” the statement reads.
The announcement was made in New York City, USA (USA), where Global Finance magazine is headquartered. It also named its 23rd annual World’s Best Foreign Exchange banks as part of the Gordon W Platt Foreign Exchange Awards.
Winners were selected from 88 nations and territories, seven regions and multiple global categories.
According to the statement, winning organizations will be honored at an awards ceremony on 22 February at Glaziers Hall, London.
The criteria for selecting the winners of the foreign exchange bank award were transaction volumes, market share and global coverage.
Global Finance also accepted submissions from banks, input from industry analysts, corporate executives and technology specialists.
“The return of inflation rates which have not been seen in four decades has dramatically increased the foreign exchange market’s volatility.
“Now, more than ever, selecting the best foreign exchange partner is critical,” says Joseph Giarraputo, the founder and editorial director of Global Finance.
“These awards honour banks with FX departments which have provided their clients superior guidance and performance during these changing times,” he says.
Bank Windhoek’s chief treasurer, Claire Hobbs, says: “As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, this award has come at the right time, because this is a collective achievement.
“This award is testament to the hard work, resilience, and dedication of the treasury team, and Bank Windhoek’s staff and customers.”
Brand Africa also awarded Bank Windhoek with the Global Finance Award in 2022.
