Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, Makueni Governor has asked Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commissions (EACC), to find and seal any loopholes which could allow corruption within the county.

As a way to combat corruption, the EACC will examine the county’s operation procedures, policies, and practices in key functional areas such as Finance, Procurement, and Human Resource Management.

Mutula stated that this move will be the best way to hold officers accountable for violating the law.

“We welcome the commission to do system audit for us so that we will not have any excuse for not adhering to the law, stern action will be taken on corrupt officers,” said Mutula on Monday during a consultative meeting with EACC team at Wote Hotel.

John Ogallo, EACC Commissioner, stated that they will empower the county through the establishment of strategies and an appropriate plan for fighting corruption. “Fighting corruption is a combined effort which requires the commission working together with the counties and other stakeholders,” said Ogallo.

“This consultative meeting provided a platform to discuss and agree on how the county government can move forward and develop an appropriate action plan for implementation,” said Ogallo.

Ogallo therefore urged the public officers in the county to play their part in fighting corruption and unethical conduct.

Makueni signed an agreement in 2019 with the anti-graft organization to monitor the county’s systems and spot any potential corruption.
