Morocco’s migration policy is an example to follow for the world as a whole, the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), António Vitorino, said on Wednesday in Fez.

Vitorino, after talks with Nasser Bourita the Moroccan Foreign Minister, made a statement to media, congratulating Morocco for its progress in migration policies, and stressing that the Kingdom was a key partner of UN Alliance of Civilizations.

He also said that his talks with Bourita were an opportunity to review the “excellent” cooperation relations between the IOM and the Kingdom.

The IOM chief congratulated Morocco on the success of the 9th Global Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations. He also highlighted the Organization’s interest in the protection and support of migrants and mutual respect.

Vitorino also expressed the Organization’s readiness to continue to cooperate with all countries (countries of origin, transit or destination of migrants) to ensure respect for their dignity, regular channels of immigration and fight against human trafficking.
