The FIFA ranking for the month October was released on Thursday. Many developments are worth noting, especially at the African level where competition is fierce.

Senegal remains the first African country in FIFA’s rankings.

It can be said that September’s international break will have been very busy. The FIFA ranking of nations, which was released on Thursday by the international football body, included globalists involved in preparation matches, League of Nations for European teams, and other friendly matches. The FIFA ranking of nations has been updated to reflect the results of the 172 international matches that were played during this window (the last before the 2022 World Cup). Brazil remains the first in the rankings.

The Seleçao, on the strength of its successes with the way over Ghana and Tunisia (3-0 and 5-1), even widens the gap with its Belgian dolphin. Argentina finishes the podium, just ahead England and France. Italy continues to rise, now at 6th place in FIFA rankings, just ahead Spain.

Top three unchanged in Africa

There was no change at the African level of the FIFA ranking. The podium consisted of Senegal (18th), Morocco (22nd), and Tunisia (30th). The Atlas Lions and Teranga benefited from their respective friendlies to remain undefeated and continue to rack up points. Meanwhile, the Tunisians struggled with Comoros before surrendering to Brazil. Nigeria, which was defeated by Algeria, remains in 4th place in Africa but falls 3 places at the international level. The Algerians are also responsible for the success, climbing to 5th place continentally, thanks to their victories over Guinea (1-0), and the Super Eagles (2-1).

Cameroon is thus overtaken by Riyad Maharez, which was unable to meet its subject during this international break. It suffered two defeats against Uzbekistan 2-0 and South Korea 1-0. The Indomitable Lions fall to 7th position in the continental rankings. They also see Egypt pass them. They will have to present a completely new face during the 2022 World Cup in order to gain as many points as possible to climb back up.
