Morocco ranks 3rd in Africa on Digital quality of life index – The North Africa Post

The “Digital Quality of Life Index” (DQL), rating digital connectivity in 117 countries in the world, has ranked Morocco 3rd on the African continent and 71 worldwide.

The index’s fourth edition included 14 indicators, including speed, GDP per head, mobile Internet cost, and broadband Internet cost. The study is based primarily on data from the United Nations and the World Bank, Freedom House, International Communications Union and Freedom House.

The index shows a slight increase in the egovernment index compared 2021. However, it remains very low compared the world average because it is ranked only 88th worldwide.

The index also ranks the kingdom 42nd in e-safety. Internet accessibility in Morocco is ranked number 78, which is 8 places lower than 2021.

The North African country needs to improve the quality of internet and its stability. The Kingdom is currently 19 points behind the global average, and has lost 34 places on this index. The infrastructure is ranked 83rd worldwide.

Overall, Israel leads the index, surpassing Denmark, which was ranked 1st last years. Germany, France, Sweden, and Switzerland are respectively ranked 3rd-4th and 5th.

The top ten also include South Korea and Japan, as well as the United Kingdom and Finland.
