AMERICA/NICARAGUA – Cardinal Brenes – “Let us all be missionaries to the Word so many may be transformed.”

Managua (Agenzia Fides) – “This will be the week of encounter with the Word and of our ability to listen, starting with me, with our priests, and with each of you: so that in this week we can become missionaries of the Word”: this is the exhortation that Cardinal Leopoldo José Brenes, Archbishop of Managua, addressed to the faithful during the Mass he presided over yesterday in the Metropolitan Cathedral, for the beginning of Biblical Week, broadcast by the Catholic media. “We are missionaries, so that today many, much of our brothers, sisters, allow themselves to be transformed, by this Word which, will always, always learn us something, will constantly ask us something and will always challenge us, sometimes unwillingly, but the Word is eternal,” he stated.
The celebration began with the enthronement the Word of God. “This Word is alive and dynamic and which is in itself our first encounter in a personal, intimate way with God,” said the Cardinal. We find inspiration there, we find courage and strength there, but the Word can also call us to attention. This call invites us all to meditate on the Word, on the Lord’s demands for me.
Cardinal Brenes invited every family to place the Word of God in their homes so that the Lord could question them during the week.
The Archbishop of Managua asked us to reflect upon the readings and ask the following question: What is our security? What are we putting our security in? “If we don’t have our security Christ Jesus, we place it in the things in the world…everything in the world is practically transitory.” “Material goods are positive, but they do not give life. Christ, who gives life, is affection, and strength is Christ’s presence. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 26/9/2022)
