Ernest Sugira, Rwanda’s striker, has signed a 2-year deal with Al Wahda Sporting Club, Syria’s top flight side.

After having left AS Kigali last season, Sugira, 31, now moves to Damascus.

Al Wahda will be Sugira’s second club outside Rwanda after featuring for Congolese outfit AS Vita during the 2016 season where he netted twelve goals in 19 games.

Al Wahda FC’s forward is expected to lead their attack this season, as they attempt to challenge Tishreen FC to the title. They finished fourth last season.

Sugira has also represented APR, Rayon Sports and AS Muhanga on the domestic football scene. He has also played 46 games and scored 15 goals in international football for Rwanda.

Al Wahda is one the most highly rated teams of Syria, having won two league championships, eight Syrian cups, and two superleague titles.
