Sade Gawanas, the mayor of Windhoek, announced Thursday that the council’s Friday afternoon special meeting will go ahead despite attempts by council management committee members to cancel it.
Gawanas indicated that the meeting would take place at 14h30 in new council chambers.
The four members of management committee, all members of Independent Patriot of Change, wrote to the mayor on Thursday asking her to call the special meeting through their lawyer.
These four members include Ndeshihafela Laraje, Jurgen Hischt, Otillie Ule and Ben Araeb.
The meeting was called to discuss the motion of no confidence in the members the management committee by Ilse Keister, Affirmative Repositioning councillor.
