Orengo trounces former Rarieda MP to become Siaya’s second governor – Kenya News Agency

Siaya Senator James Orengo, who received 220 349 votes, was elected Siaya’s second governor elect.

Orengo, who ran for ODM ticket, was defeated by Nicholas Gumbo (United Democratic Movement), who managed 147.558 votes to win the second place.

Announcement of the results at Siaya’s IEBC hall was made by Catherine Bulinda, county returning officer. She stated that Millicent Adhiambo Oduor, who ran on the UDA ticket, polled 4,678 votes, while William Otieno Ochieng, Independent candidate, pulled the tail, scoring 1,089 votes.

Dr Oburu Oginga (ODM), a member of East Africa Legislative Assembly, won the Senate seat with 285,595 votes.

His closest rival, Julius Okong’o Okinda (Independent) managed 33,898 as Tony Yogo Yogo (Independent) took the third position with 25,157 votes.

Owiti James Wamban, Movement for Democracy and Growth, won 19,227 votes. Oscar Omondi Onyango(DAP-K), managed 9,586 votes, with Ismael Otieno (Independent), pulling the tail with 1,550.

Dr Christine Ombaka (ODM), successfully defended her seat in the women representative seat with 207 748 votes. Sellah Ayimba (MDG), a radio journalist, took the second place with 145,506 vote, while Akinyi Olla (MDP), polled 7,447 voters.

Others were Mildred Atieno Ochieng (Independent) got 6,451, Bethy Aber Dundee (KNC) polled 3,551, Pamela Auma Ongoma (UDA) got 1,854 while Maslister Anyango Oudia of New Kanu managed 1,475.

Orengo, Oburu, and Ombaka thanked the voters for their confidence and promised to deliver in their victory speeches. Orengo stated that he will be the governor based on good governance.
