According to the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), Maersk, a Danish shipping firm, plans to invest approximately $500 million in East Port Said’s Suez Canal Container Terminal.

The money will be used for the construction of a new container dock, measuring 1,000 meters in length, to complement the existing 500-meter terminal dock.

The investment plans also include increasing to 30 the number of cranes powered by electricity and diesel to reduce emissions at the terminal and make it a green terminal by 2030.

The Danish shipping company plans to transform Suez Canal Container Terminal into an intelligent terminal that uses the latest smart handling technology and communication systems.

Recent years have shown SCA to be very attractive for investment. The company reported in July 2022 a 32.4% increase in revenue year-on-year (YoY).
