The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), along with its national partners, Centre National de Presse Norbert Zongo Burkina Faso [CNP-NZ] and Maison de la Presse de Mali (MP), have issued a joint statement expressing their solidarity and support to the people of Mali/Burkina Faso that have suffered recent terrorist attacks.

Three media organizations condemned the attacks on July 2, 2022 in Namissiguima, Bourasso, Burkina Faso, resulting in the deaths of about 30 people. They were also outraged at the terrorist attacks on Bandiagara, Mali between June 18th and 19th 2022, which killed about 100 people.

They expressed further concern about the devastation of violent extremism and its spread in West Africa, as well as the threat it poses for freedom and sustainability within the sub-region.

Maison de la Presse, CNP-NZ & MFWA urged all ECOWAS Members to support Mali’s and Burkina Faso governments in their efforts to fight terrorism.
