Make Female Next Chief Justice

MONROVIA-The President of Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia, Atty. Philomena T. Wilkins wants President George Weah’s nomination of a female Chief Justice of Liberia.

Cllr. Francis Saye Korkpor, the current Chief Justice, is expected to retire in September 2022 after reaching constitutional age limit. Atty. Williams also praised the Chief Justice for his judicious, strong, and energetic contributions to the legal profession over the years.

The AFELL boss, speaking at the Liberia National Bar Association’s (LNBA) first Assembly, said that AFELL is determined to ensure justice and straight adherence.

She added that AFELL will continue to work to ensure that lawbreakers are held accountable.

According to AFELL boss, such will increase deterrence and ensure peace and security. Atty. Williams also stated that the Association is committed to promoting compelling issues affecting children and women, gender equality and gender sensitive laws. Williams also said that all forms of violence against women or girls are being addressed by the Association. The AFELL President’s remarks come at a time of increase in rape cases and mysterious deaths.
