EUROPE/ITALY – First Regional Gathering of international clergymen: “not easy stopgaps to compensate for the dearth of Italian clergymen”

Rome (Agenzia Fides) – At the moment, Monday, October 2, the First Regional Gathering of international clergymen who perform pastoral service within the dioceses of Lazio happened.
The assembly, which is a part of the missionary month of October, centered on the theme: “Missionary cooperation within the Lazio area” and noticed the participation of greater than 200 international clergymen and spiritual working in all dioceses within the area.

“Monks who go away their Church of origin to hold out pastoral service in our parish communities aren’t easy stopgaps to compensate for the dearth of Italian clergymen”, declared the Bishop of Albano Vincenzo Viva, President of the Fee.

The gathering, which happened within the Aula Magna of the Pontifical City School of Rome, was promoted by Missio Lazio – Regional Fee for the Evangelization of Peoples and Missionary Cooperation. Monsignor Vincenzo Viva, Bishop of Albano, Monsignor Emilio Nappa, President of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Father Giulio Albanese, Comboni priest, director of Missio Roma and Father Denise Malonda, director of Missio Tivoli participated.
