Vihiga County authorities has launched an environmental training programme to advertise planting of bushes in faculties.
The initiative, dubbed faculty greening programme, seeks to impart environmental conservation abilities and attitudes to learners at an early age.
Talking whereas at Ikuvu main in North Maragoli ward, in Sabatia Sub-County, Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo stated his administration is making large efforts in fostering environmental conservation, local weather change mitigation and adaptation for prosperity.
Dr. Ottichilo acknowledged that in collaboration with the Ministry of Schooling (MOE) and different companions, he’ll manage a workshop to coach learners, academics and the native communities on local weather change results.
He has known as on the residents to take the accountability of planting bushes and conserving riparian zones to guard water sources.
He disclosed that Vihiga is among the many main counties within the nation a big forest cowl having 35.9 per cent of its space below tree cowl.
“Now we have procured over 100,000 seedlings for starting-off the programme which is able to entail planting of bushes in addition to endeavor different environmental-conservation associated actions in faculties,” he stated.
