MONROVIA-The Supreme Court of Liberia seated his honor YamieQuiquiGbeisay as one of four Associate Judges to complete the Liberian Supreme Court’s full bench.

The vacancy was created by the retirement of Former Chief justice Francis s. Korkor Sr., who was replaced in his place by Chief Justice Sie A-Nyene G. Yuoh.

The Supreme Court of Liberia (or the Supreme Court of Liberia) is the highest judicial organ in West African nation. It was established 1839.

The court includes the Chief Justice, who is also the highest Judiciary official, as well as four associate justices. These are nominated by President and confirmed in the Senate.

The Supreme Court has issued a notice following his confirmation hearing, stating that it will conduct the official seating for his honor Gbeisay, who was recently appointed by President Weahand to the full bench of the honorable court.

President George Weah nominated Judge YamieQuiquiGbeisay as a Supreme Court Bench Judge on September 7, 2022. This elevates him from Circuit Court Judge.

Gbeisay was born May 3, 1959 in Ganta in Nimba County. He has been practicing law for 24 years. And 7 of these years has been a judge — nominated and confirmed as relieving Judge in 2015 during the administration of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Gbeisay,  in time past, has been known as a “no-nonsense Judge” for his tougher stance in punishing lawyers who had grossly disobeyed the court as well as frowning on prosecution for the continuous delay of cases — which impacts the judicial branch’s public image negatively. Nearly all his rulings were held by the Supreme Court, even when appealed.

He has also spoken out against the failure of the government in addressing lawlessness in the country and the manner in which it has failed to protect citizens. He also decries the salary range for judges, which he claims is far lower than that of ministers.

At the same time, the high court says it will admit into the Supreme Court bar, attorneys who passed the Supreme Court bar examinations as part of activities befitting Friday’s event.

By order of Chief Justice Yuoh all Counselors at-Law and party litigants must attend
