Morocco, Saudi Arabia sign deal on combating terrorism and its financing – The North Africa Post

Morocco and Saudi Arabi signed Tuesday, in Rabat, a cooperation agreement that provides for further cooperation in the fight against terrorism and its financing.

The agreement was signed between Morocco’s National Security and Territory Surveillance (DGST), and Saudi Arabia’s State Security agency after talks between the Director General of National Security and Territory Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, and Vice President of Saudi Arabia’s State Security, Abdullah Fahad Salih Al-Owais, who is on a working visit to Morocco at the head of a large security delegation.

The agreement covers cooperation and security coordination in various areas related the the fight against terrorism, and terrorist financing operations, according to the DGST).

According to the statement, the DGST and Saudi State Security want to improve their security and intelligence relations, coordinate efforts against terrorism and extremism, and deprive terrorist organisations of any rear base, recruitment ground, and financial resources.

The Saudi delegation’s visit reflects the strength and depth of cooperation relations in intelligence and security coordination between the DGST and the Presidency of the Saudi State Security, illustrates both parties’ shared desire to consolidate their cooperation in the service of security and safety of their citizens.

The Saudi delegation consisted of the Directorate General for Countering extremism and the boss of the Directorate General for Conventions and International Cooperation. There were also experts and security officials from the Saudi State Security.
