King Of Morocco received SG of UN António Guterres – The North Africa Post

King Mohammed VI received on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the Rabat Royal Palace, Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres.

The UN Secretary General expressed gratitude to His Majesty the Queen for the success of the 9th Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations held in Fez and welcomed the adoption of a strong, binding Declaration, which was more important than ever in an international context that is turbulent.

On this occasion, Mr. Guterres recognized the Sovereign’s ongoing commitment to the promotion and protection of the values openness, tolerance, dialogue, and respect for differences.

M. Guterres also acknowledged the Kingdom’s constructive and consistent contribution to the maintenance and consolidation, strengthening of stability, and promotion of development, particularly on the African continent.

The UN Security Council Resolution 2654 was adopted on 27/10/2022.

In this regard, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed Morocco’s constant position for the settlement of this regional dispute on the basis of the autonomy initiative, within the framework of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

The Sovereign reiterated the Kingdom’s support for the efforts of the Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy, Mr. Stafan De Mistura, to conduct the political process, as well as for MINURSO in observing the cease-fire.

The UN side hosted Mr. Miguel Graca as Special Adviser to Secretary-General and Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister for Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.
