Fans of Morocco’s national football team have travelled en masse to Qatar and ranked among top ten buyers of tickets as the national football team prepares for its first game against Croatia on November 23.

This is Morocco’s sixth participation at the FIFA world Cup. Its best performance was in 1986 when the national team reached the stage.

Walid Regragui, a former international player and coach, will lead the Moroccan squad. Many of these tickets were purchased by thousands of Moroccans from the large diaspora.

Many Arab fans will cheer for Morocco at the World Cup.

Qatar expects 1.2 million visitors to the World Cup, which is more than a third its population of 3 million.

Due to limited accommodation in Qatar, thousands of fans are also considering staying in neighboring countries where they will be able to fly in for specific games using daily ‘shuttle flights’.

Dubai is just a short flight from Doha, and it is expected that a million World Cup supporters will visit Dubai.

In preparation for the rush, the neighboring emirate designated fan zones at parks and beaches and the financial district. Hotels are offering special deals.

World Cup organizers have offered fans accommodation in apartments, villas and desert tents with the majority of Qatar’s 31,000+ hotel rooms being occupied in Qatar by soccer teams.
