The European Union underlined, Thursday, “the strong commitment” of Morocco to pursue dialogue and cooperation in all areas related to migration.

In its report-2022 on migration and asylum, the European Commission (EC) highlighted the cooperation between Rabat and Brussels which “confirmed a strong joint commitment to continue the dialogue and cooperation in all areas related to migration, including the regional dimension, return, Talent Partnerships and fighting migrant smuggling.”

The EC recalled the launch, last July, with Morocco of the renewed partnership on migration and the fight against people smuggling networks, noting that this partnership aims to “strengthen the legal, policy, operational and strategic frameworks in partner countries in response to migrant smuggling, and to increase the ownership, impact and long-term sustainability of their efforts”.

This partnership supports border management, enhanced police cooper (including joint investigations), awareness-raising about irregular migration dangers, and enhanced cooperation between EU agencies.

The report also mentioned the Talent Partnership initiative, which identified Morocco as one the key partners for establishing a partnership.

The Commission states that the Talent Partnerships will be used to encourage international labor mobility and to develop talent to the benefit of partner countries, member states, and the business community on both side.
