Sunday saw a delegation of the Pan-African Parliament visit the Tanger Med port compound.

The delegation, headed by Charumbira Fortune Zephania (PAP President), includes many senior members of Pan-African Parliament.

The visit provided an opportunity to learn about the main projects in Morocco, notably the Tanger Med port complex. It also highlighted the importance port infrastructures for international trade.

During the visit, the parliamentary delegation was given explanations about the port’s organization and facilities. They also heard about its role as a global logistical gateway and example of global trade integration.

Tanger Med has been ranked the first port to be opened in Africa for five years, and the first port to open in the Mediterranean for two.

“Thanks to its modern infrastructure and sophisticated technology, the Tanger-Med port has become one of the pioneering maritime platforms in the world,” the head of the delegation, Fortune Zephania commented, calling on Morocco to share its “unprecedented experience” in this area with other African countries. Through the Tanger-Med port, Morocco has proven that “Africa can take the lead and develop by itself,” he noted.

The PAP delegation will be visiting Morocco on September 24th to 27th at the invitation of Moroccan Parliament.
