The National Cereals Produce Board’s Embu branch has begun issuing subsidised fertiliser, which was released earlier this week by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to the counties.

Alex Mutangili, Director Eastern Region National NCPB, stated that Embu County had already received the fertiliser.

The Director stated that Embu had received one lorry of fertiliser. DAP and other preparations are ongoing to ensure that the county receives more.

Mutangili stated that farmers can access the subsidised fertiliser at an affordable price of Sh 3.275 per 50-kg bag.

The release of the commodity to the counties on September 21 was due to the presidential directive that President William Ruto made during his inauguration ceremony. He stated that the Government would make available 1.4 million bags of 50kg fertiliser to farmers at subsidised prices.

Mutangili urged Embu residents to get fertiliser through the agricultural office.

“I want to urge our farmers in this county not to be worried at all with the fear that they may not get the subsidised fertiliser. We have enough fertiliser that will be enough for every farmer and also we are going to receive a lot more,” he said.
