Morocco to import 5 mln tons of soft wheat in 2022-2023- Intecereales says – The North Africa Post

Intercereales, French soft wheat exporters, said Morocco could import up 5 million tons of soft wheat this 2022-2023 season.

According to a statement by the French cereal lobby group, France has already exported 1,000,000 tonnes of soft wheat from France to Morocco during the summer.

Morocco became its first soft-wheat customer after the Ukraine crisis.

Morocco’s domestic harvest was severely reduced by drought to 3.4 million tons this year compared to 10.3 million in 2021.

The Moroccan finance ministry stated that 2023 growth could rise to 4.5%, with an average cereals harvest at 75 million quintals.
