Moussa Faki Mahmat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, is deeply concerned by reports of renewed military conflict in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The Chairperson calls for an immediate cessation in hostilities and urges all parties to resume negotiations to find a peaceful solution.

The Chairperson reiterates the African Union’s continued commitment to work with the parties in support of a consensual political process in the interest of the country.

The Chairperson invites the parties to engage the AU High Representative, H.E Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria, for the Horn of Africa.
