Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre said, ”it saddens me to hear about the violence and chaos that has erupted in Somaliland within the past two days. I want to appeal to Somaliland officials to understand that peace cannot be achieved through conflict and chaos.
I pray to Allah for peace on the lives of those who have died and for quick recovery for the ones who are still wounded.
Dear neighbour, you have always been an icon for democracy and peaceful transitions of power. I urge you to preserve the peace, order, and stability Allah has given you and that you have worked hard to build.
Brothers and sisters, I urge all of you to engage in negotiations and understand each other to resolve any issues.
The elders, scholars, youth, women and all of the society should interfere in the issue and find a solution so that no one else gets hurt.
Finally, the Federal Government of Somalia stands alongside the Somalilandans and is willing to participate in finding solutions.
