Bail was denied to two men who were recently arrested for allegedly assaulting each other in separate incidents.

The first incident involved a foreign currency trader Brownson Lukas (also known as John Wick CEO) who was arrested over the weekend after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

Lukas appeared before the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court to face charges of assault. These were read in conjunction with the provisions of The Combating of Domestic Violence Act, malicious destruction of property, and resisting arrest.

The court was informed that the State objected that he be granted bail because he has a similar case and it is feared that his release from custody could lead to a similar offence.

The complainant has also stated that Lukas shouldn’t be granted bail.

Lukas case was moved to 29 August in order to allow for more investigations. He will be held in custody while further investigations are conducted.

Lukas was also taken into custody on a charge of assaulting his girlfriend in Klein Windhoek with intent to do grievous body harm.

He was released on bail at N$15 000.

Paulus Olembe Karaembera, a social media activist best known as “Kafu Ka Namibia”, is currently in custody in connection to an alleged incident involving domestic violence.

Karembera was arrested Friday last week after he allegedly assaulted the wife the day before.

He was charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily injury. This charge was read in conjunction with the provisions of The Combating of Domestic Violence Act.

Karembera was remanded in custody and is due to make her next court appearance on 26th July.
