In an effort to curb fraud, the Government has digitalized all land registrations.

Amina Mohammed, Cabinet Secretary for Sport, spoke in Kakamega County, during the issuance of free title documents by the national government under their land titling program, and said that citizens will be able access reliable, reliable, and efficient land-based services through Ardhisasa.

Amina stated that the Ardhisasa Online Service had been successfully piloted, deployed in Nairobi County, and that it will soon be rolled-out across all of the other counties in the country.

“The system ensures integration of all departments involved in land matters, including Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Itax platform” she said.

The CS announced that the national government has processed 129,784 land title deeds for Kakamega County alone, but regretted that 61,460 land titles remain uncollected at the Kakamega County registrar’s office.

Amina cited Kakamega South and Kakamega North as the leading counties in uncollected title deeds.

“All the uncollected land title deeds will be deployed at all Deputy County Commissioners offices for collection” she added.

According to the CS the government is processing a number if land schemes that were once under government forests, in order to allow the affected residents to also obtain their titles.

Among the schemes are Mautuma central, Shibiringa, Shilelo, Ishiru and Virembe ‘A’.

The government started digitizing all land processes in 2013. Since then, a record number of over 6,000,000 land titles has been processed.

“Since independence to 2012, the government had only issued 5.6 million titles, but since 2013 to date a record over 6 million titles have been processed” she added.

According to the CS it was in the public interest that all landowners have land title documents to allow them to use their lands for economic development.

John Ondego, Kakamega county commissioner, encouraged residents to use vital documents to access their lands.

“Do not allow the issuance of these land titles to cause a rift in your families, but instead seek resolution through the Ministry of Lands and the national government officials.
