MONROVIA-President George Weah who is the political leader of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has assured CDC’s Women of Forty percent In Leadership at all levels.
President Weah indicated that the CDC is going to provide the opportunity for women in all sectors of the party to occupy forty percent including the upcoming general and presidential elections with women vying for representative and senatorial positions.
The Liberian Leader was Speaking over the weekend in Congo Town when the 17 Electoral Districts of Montserrado County CDC women organized an appreciation assemble for President Weah.
During the event, CDC political leader called on those of the international community to support CDC’s quest in providing such opportunity to women aspiring to contest in the upcoming general and presidential elections.
It is hope that Unwomen is making a stand for more women in the legislature to accept the invitation from the Liberian leader of the international body.
President Weah further narrated that since 2005 elections the CDC has been the political party that have given more opportunity to women in politics to represent their constituent at the legislature.
He challenged the leadership of the Coalition for Democratic Change to ensure that more women are given the opportunity to represent their people at the legislature as part of his vision to empower women.
The Liberian leader boosted of his long time quest for women empowerment that allowed him to be call feminist in chief a campaign, according to him is visible in his government and that of the CDC.
President Weah also described women in leadership as hardworking, making reference to the Minister of Public Work ,Ruth Cooker-Collins for the level of work being done under her leadership in the infrastructure sector mostly roads connectivity.
He encouraged women to seize every opportunity to continue their education, whether it be at a vocational, secondary, or university level.
President Weah did inform the women that he had to go back to school to acquire the level of education that he is using to lead the peaceful citizens of Liberia, stressing that it was not because of individuals criticizing, but for his personal growth.
During the event, when the 17 Electoral Districts of Montserrado County CDC women expressed gratitude to the Liberian leader for his support to the empowerment of women across the country .
