Bank of Kigali has revealed the three winners of a promotion that targeted Diaspora clients. The five-month campaign was dubbed ´Bank home and Win Big.’
The winners were announced at a press conference that took place at BK headquarters on June 24.
The winners were Telesphore Rugema, Gonzalve Twagirayezu and Melchiade Ruberintwari.
Officials from Bk say that the promotion, which was held from February 15 through June 15, was intended to encourage Rwandans to save money and return to Rwanda.

“Since we started the campaign, we have seen a very big uptake where about 2000 clients interact with Bk and we also deposit through their account as well,” Said Benjamin Mutimura, the Bank of Kigali Chief Commercial Officer.
He also stated that today was not the end of the promotion as diaspora banking will continue. He added that they have many offers for diaspora communities.
Those offers include opening an account for free, free incoming transfers (no charges on received international transfers), investment opportunities through BK capital such as the Bk Aguka fund as well as the interest they maintain through banking with BK.
Additionally, withdrawals from foreign exchange accounts are free of charge (upto 5,000 USD or equivalent) as well as free account maintenance fees.
Mutimura spoke out about the future, revealing that the BK Marketing and Diaspora Team will reach out next week to winners and be in a position to hand over prizes.
He added that the expiration time for these prizes is one year. If winners are unavailable for any reason, they will be in touch with them to extend their time.

Yves Kayihura Head of Retail banking also commended all diaspora clients. He said that only 500 of the 2000 registered clients were eligible.
Kayihura explained that one needed to deposit Rwf1,000,000 in a new or existing diaspora bank account to be eligible to win one of three prizes.
The prizes are two RwandAir economy return tickets to Kigali for the top two, and two nights’ stay (full board) in One & Only Nyungwe for the third winner.
“If the winner is not in a RwandAir destination, BK will pay for the connecting flight to a RwandAir destination, from where the passenger will be able to connect to Kigali,” he explained.
Random selection was made from 500 eligible customers in a raffle draw to select the winners.
Kayihura said that BK will continue to interact and serve diaspora customers in order to meet their needs.
