The Mauritanian NGO “Réseau Unité pour le Développement de Mauritanie” has denounced in a complaint to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva the alarming situation prevailing in the polisario-controlled Tindouf camps in Algeria.

Mohamed Vall Barka, NGO chairman, complained to the HRC about the intimidation and repression suffered in Tindouf camps by human rights defenders, as well the exploitation of children.

These camps have been turned into incubators for terrorism, organized crime and other criminal activities by the exploitation of the polisario militia by young people who want to improve their economic situation.

The HRC and international public opinion were also alerted by the NGO to the responsibility of the Polisario and the Algerian State for the abuses committed at Tindouf camps, which included the recruitment and exploiting of children during the Sahara conflict.

The UN General Assembly has received the same complaint from the Mauritanian NGO.
