Moving tribute in Geneva to late leaders of two human rights NGOs, friends of Morocco – The North Africa Post

At a ceremony in Geneva, this Friday, a moving tribute to two former human rights defenders was paid. They have reverberated Banjul’s voice and defended its cause.

Late Martin Maluza, president of the NGO “CIRAC” (International Committee for the Respect and Application of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights) and late Maurice Katala, head of the NGO “AIPD-GL” (the International Action for Peace and Development in the Great Lakes Region) were remembered for their endeavors to defend human rights and promote the protection of human rights in Africa and elsewhere.

Many representatives of NGOs and associative actors, based in Geneva, gave testimony in honor of the deceased human rights defenders. They also recalled their efforts in promoting and protecting human rights in Africa.

The two activists were also remembered as fervent defenders of Morocco’s national cause at the UN in Geneva and New York as well as at the level of the African Union, and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

They actually spared no effort to defend Morocco’s territorial integrity and highlight the Kingdom’s efforts to promote the development of the Southern Provinces.

Maurice Katala (left) and Martin Maluza (right), who both made numerous field trips to Laayoune & Dakhla, addressed correspondences, and made several oral presentations before the UN Security Council High Commissioner for Human Rights and to the UN Security Council to highlight efforts made by the Kingdom of Sahara in terms o f development and the protection and promotion of human rights.

During the event, the new leaders of the two NGOs vowed to continue their predecessors’ work and to remain committed to the defense of Morocco’s cause.
