The average increase in olive harvest is more than 40% since the Al Moutmir Program, initiated by the OCP phosphates group (OCP), installed demonstration platforms that allowed farmers and scientists to optimize olive cultivation.

More than 630 farmers have benefited from OCP Al Moutmir platforms during the 2020-2021 agricultural seasons, according to their testimonies at a webinar of Al Moutmir initiatives and at least 20% according OCP Al Moutmir figures compared to other agricultural fields at national level.

Al Moutmir’s agricultural engineers have accompanied these farmers since the beginning of their agricultural season and offered them training and advice throughout the year and on demand.

Farmers have learned to recognize the signs and symptoms of fertile ground and to look at the leaves of olive trees to identify anomalies that require attention.

A demonstration platform for fertilization of olive tree trees has also helped farmers to become more aware of the importance soil study and adapt the fertilizer volume to their soil and olive trees.

They also learned the key dates for each stage, which they did instinctively without any prior study.

They learn how to integrate olive cultivation management based on soil analysis, rationalization of fertilization and the use of smart blenders’ tailor-made formulas.

This initiative enabled the installation in 27 provinces of 1,506 olive demonstration stations for the 2020-2021 agricultural campaign. Indirect beneficiaries have also benefited from the initiative, which has more than 6,000 beneficiaries.

Since Sept. 2018, the initiative has seen more than 3,500 platforms created.
