The Sudanese Opposition Alliance (Declaration of Freedom and Change), vowed victory of revolution and overthrow of the military coup. It also pledged unity of the opposition forces and the establishment of one opposition center with a common leadership. The People’s Resistance Committees, and the Communist Party were established to unite the resistance and to accelerate the de facto authority’s fall. The United Nations Mission to Support the Transition in Sudan, (UNITAMS), announced that it was present at Khartoum’s request. It also received a Security Council resolution in response to demonstrators who were affiliated with the ousted President Omar al-Bashir and organized a protest to demand the withdrawal of the mission.
Member of the Executive Office of the Declaration of Freedom and Change Alliance, Omar Al-Diqair, who is also the head of the Congress Party, confirmed in a press conference yesterday that the unity of the resistance forces led to the overthrow of the rescue regime in April 2019, and that the only available way is to continue Peaceful resistance to continue confronting the “days of brutality in Sudan, and unleashing the cowardly killing network to reap the lives of the Sudanese,” through the peaceful mass movement.
Al-Degair stated that the confrontation with this coup was peaceful and should remain peaceful, regardless of how violent the coup plotters may be. History has taught us that tyranny, violence and tyranny, no matter how intense, can lead to demise. History is won by the will of the people, not tanks. He believed that “the only way to defeat the coup is to form a broad front political on which all the opposition forces meet, with an unifying leadership and a shared political vision that addresses the current resistance, and the future to realize the revolution’s goals.”
He called on the “peoples, free peoples of world” to stand with the Sudanese people, support their demands, stop the “machine for violence and oppression”, and show solidarity. He stated, “We are communicating the parties to the international communiation, according to our visions that achieve the interests for our people,” but stressed that the responsibility of resolving “the fundamental battle” rests on the people. Al-Degair explained that “Freedom and Change,” the coalition, presented to “Unitams'” its view of “ending” the coup d’etat and the decisions that accompanied it. He stated that there is no way to reconcile with him and that the repression directed towards the issuance of impeachment must stop, the military removed form power, and a fully civil authority should be established. This authority will complete the tasks of the suspended interim period and prepare for free and fair election at its end.
He addressed “Freedom and Change” and called for “a call from all the forces and revolution”, in the resistance groups and the gatherings, to come together to fulfill their duty to unity as soon as they could. He stated that “In this context we have taken many steps, and we have addressed resistance committees. A number of coordination groups and committees responded that they would sit with us. The other numbers did not receive any responses. We expect and hope for positive responses, so let’s sit together to reflect upon the formation of a united front with a shared vision.” .
He shared details of meetings that were held by the coalition, which included gatherings of professionals, and said that they had communicated with him with two messages. His response was that he would not be able to sit with Freedom and Change as a bloc. However, we reached an agreement on the front. Freedoms and human rights.
He stated, “We appeal for colleagues in the Communist Party… We wish to quickly advance to the top, because the enemy’s one and it is unreasonable to expect the wounded who were both hit by the same knife, to stop confronting them and engage in tactical disputes.”
He also announced a program for sending delegations from his allies to other countries of the country to coordinate with all the forces and revolution. The first visit to Wad Madani, capital of Al-Jazira, in the middle of Al-Jazira, was scheduled for next Friday. It will allow the government to show solidarity with the state in its exposure to the elements and to discuss organizational and political issues to form a unified opposition center.
He pledged to diversify and develop the means of movement as well as methods of peaceful resistance. He cited the country’s history and new innovations and said: “I call upon all the forces for revolution to call for an unified center of opposition, because it’s a prerequisite that every revolution needs… These ideas are very close to what the committees require. The resistance and the memorandum of the Communist Party of the United Nations Mission (UNITAMS), which enables consensus on the differences.”
However, Unitams stated in a press statement that a group of protestors had been standing in front its headquarters demanding its expulsion.
The mission explained, according to the bulletin, that it defends freedom of assembly and expression, so it offered them to receive a delegation from them at the headquarters, but the demonstrators “rejected its request,” and indicated that its presence in Sudan came at the request of the Sudanese government, and with a clear mandate from the Security Council in accordance with the resolution “2524”.
Supporters of the Islamist regime and groups loyal to the military government, led by the ousted President, protested in front of UN mission headquarters calling for its removal and describing its presence as “foreign interference in the country’s affairs”.
