We believed it for a long while. Until 30ekm, Eliud Kippoge was on track for the Berlin Marathon in under two hours. This is something that no man has ever achieved. For three years, this has been the Kenyan’s ultimate dream. It was his ultimate dream, and he was not far away from achieving it on Sunday in the streets. The double Olympic champion will have to be content for the moment with the fact that he has improved his own world record by a mere four years, which was set in 2h1min39s. The 42.125 km was completed by the 37 year-old athlete in 2h01mn08s, well ahead of all his competitors.

Belihu, fourth place in the race, held on until 30kms. But, like the three hares that the king let go on the 25th, Belihu held on to the finish line until 30 kms.ekm, the Ethiopian will be forced watch Eliud Kipchoge leave and rewrite his history with a wild new time. No offense. Abebe BikilaThe Kenyan, who in 1960 placed Ethiopia at the top of Italy by winning the marathon barefoot at Rome’s Olympic Games, is now the greatest marathon runner. He has kept all his competitors under the sole of his sole for many years. It doesn’t matter if your name is Mo Farah oder Kenenisa Begkele. For a long period, time was his only adversary.
