Thank you teachers, I will do my best to make sure your welfare is improved. I will help the weak and the powerful. I will be honest and sincere as I work for you, \u201csaid Ms Cheruiyot.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Cheruiyot garnered 496 votes against Mugun\u2018s\u00a0 95 votes in the \u00a0Branch elections held at Kapsoit secondary school on Friday where members in the teachers\u2019 trade union from the six sub-counties in the area congregated to cast their votes.<\/p>\n<p>Before she was elected to the position she had previously challenged the post during branch elections held last summer where she lost against Stanley Mutai, currently KNUT first vice chairman.<\/p>\n<p>In the same breath, Kericho County Labour officer Richard Litaba called upon the government to include teachers\u2019 unions in the task force to enable smooth implementation of the CBC.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed that the teachers union was best placed to advise the taskforce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Teachers we welcome President William Ruto\u2019s decision to create a taskforce to review and guide the implementation of CBC and we as teachers want to be included in the body as we are best placed to advice the taskforce.\u201d said Litaba.<\/p>\n<p>In his inaugural speech, President William Ruto said that the government would create an education Reform taskforce to incorporate the views of Kenyans about the curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>This is due to parents&#8217; concerns about the double transition of learners from primary schools to secondary schools in January, despite limited accommodation and high costs of the CBC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Sarah Njagi <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- .entry-content --><\/p>\n<p>\t<!-- .entry-footer -->\n<\/div>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenyanews.go.ke\/ann-cheruiyot-wins-kericho-knut-top-seat\/\">kenyanews<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ann Cheruiyot has been elected the Kericho Branch executive Secretary of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), after defeating Gedion Mugun.
