{"id":57920,"date":"2022-09-22T18:55:41","date_gmt":"2022-09-22T18:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africannewspaper.net\/2022\/09\/22\/launch-of-research-archives-center-on-northern-morocco-judaism-the-north-africa-post\/"},"modified":"2022-09-22T18:55:58","modified_gmt":"2022-09-22T18:55:58","slug":"launch-of-research-archives-center-on-northern-morocco-judaism-the-north-africa-post","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africannewspaper.net\/2022\/09\/22\/launch-of-research-archives-center-on-northern-morocco-judaism-the-north-africa-post\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch of Research, Archives Center on Northern Morocco Judaism \u2013 The North Africa Post"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p>The Center for Research and Archives on the Judaism of Northern Morocco (CJNM), was launched during an international meeting on the history of the Jews of Northern Morocco held in Tangier, Sept. 19-21.<\/p>\n<p>The Center is tasked, among other miswsions, to conduct scientific studies, in partnership with Abdelmalek Essa\u00e2di University and in collaboration with eminent Moroccan and international researchers, in order to better understand and present this community to the widest possible audience in Morocco and abroad, residents or visitors, of all faiths.<\/p>\n<p>Managed by a committee of personalities from Belgium, France, Spain, Brazil, Israel, the United States and Morocco, the CJNM is part of a series of initiatives of the Moroccan Jewish community, led by the Israeli Community of Tangier, Donna and Ha\u00efm Benchimol Fondation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis center is specially dedicated to the study and research on the Judaism of northern Morocco, including its customs, history and language,\u201d said president of the Jewish community of Tangier, Serge Berdugo. He said that this institution will serve the purpose of preserving, preserving and encouraging a common culture to not only the Jews of Morocco but also to Andalusians.<\/p>\n<p>Berdugo stated that this center was in line with King Mohammed VI&#8217;s enlightened vision for the preservation and promotion of the plural identity in Morocco and the high solicitude for religious things in general and places of worship in specific.<\/p>\n<p>Driss El Yozami, president of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad, stated that the meeting brought together prominent people, including academics, historians, and others interested in the memory of the Jews of northern Morocco.
