We are also looking into a possibility of doing sewerage systems in Kapcherop and Kapsowar towns while we have a number of projects lined up in Elgeyo Marakwet,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>This move comes just days after the governor, while putting in place a garbage truck Monday, stated that although Iten needed a sewerage system urgently, the county didn&#8217;t have the funds and appealed to partners for funding.<\/p>\n<p>According to the CEO, the agency is building water tanks, intake weirs and laying of pipes. Drilling and equipping boreholes are also being done. Construction of water storage tanks, water kiosks, and water troughs are all underway in different parts.<\/p>\n<p>Governor\u00a0Rotich commended the agency for the implementation of the various projects in the county and called for more partnership saying the county was still facing a major challenge in the provision of water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to the NRWWA for the completed and ongoing projects as this will see our people access clean and safe drinking water, while accessing the same for their livestock and irrigation. It will also result in improved sanitation and increase of livestock and agricultural productivity,\u201d the governor said.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the agency&#8217;s involvement in project implementation to ensure local ownership and sustainment of the projects even after they were handed over.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the projects being undertaken by the agency include Mogil Primary School borehole in Marakwet East Sub-county,\u00a0which is going to benefit about 1,000 people, Embarar community water project in Marakwet West, which is intended to benefit about 3,000 beneficiaries, Rimoi Community Water project in Keiyo North and Chepsirei Community Water project in Keiyo South.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency&#8217;s projects, the agency will develop, maintain, and manage water works in Turkana, West Pokot and Uasin Gishu counties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Alice Wanjiru<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenyanews.go.ke\/water-agency-to-construct-a-sewerage-system-in-iten\/\">kenyanews<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The North Rift Water Works Development Authority will build a sewerage system for Iten at a cost estimated at Sh900 million.
