Jeff Kapondo and TP Mazembe will compete in the CAF Women’s Champions League. What a dream!

Jeff Kapondo: This was the goal set by the creation of the women’s section at TP Mazembe. We are happy to have reached this first goal today. Now, we want to shine across the continent, having already been recognized nationally.

There is a preliminary phase in the UNIFFAC zone that you can participate in before the final phase in Morocco. In which Malabo King, the defending African vice champion team, will be present. Do you feel scared by AS Awa from Cameroon, whose championship is superior to that of the DRC?

Cameroon’s women’s football championship has been better organized than in DRC. Malabo King is a top-ranked African team, but Tout Puissant Mazembe is also very well organized. We don’t think the Cameroonian football team is a lightning bolt for us. We are optimistic and could surprise pleasantly. I think we can win the final against Malabo King.

To read also: LDC Féminine (CAF) – the group draw revealed

Mazembe is a well-known name on the African continent. Is this not a pressure to you in case of poor performance in the Champions League?

Yes, it’s a lot of pressure for leaders because we are required to do things so Tout Puissant Mazembe doesn’t get discounted. Mazembe is a name that instills dignity and honor in Africa. We must ensure that this virtue is protected. It’s possible. We’ll do our best to win this contest.

Your team is performing well and you seem confident. But how was your preparation?

Our preparation began with the agreement’s championship. After our win at national level, we started another phase of preparation in Lubumbashi. We played several friendly matches against the Katumbi Football Academy boys (KFA), which is a strong team that just won a tournament here in Europe. We then played a friendly against Zesco United, a Zambian team that has 4 players who participated in the last African Cup of Nations. This team won 2-0. It was a great way to gauge our level. We are confident about our performance based on the results. CAF Champions League.
