PAULINE Ndjamba (41) appeals to good Samaritans for assistance in purchasing school uniforms to her two teenage sons.

Ndjamba, on the other hand, is preparing her children for school. Opening day is near.

With tears running down her face, Ndjamba recounts her reaction after receiving what she describes as a “nightmare call”.

“I received a call from my neighbour while I was at Stop ‘n Shop to buy maize meal with my youngest son and baby,” she explains.

Ndjamba claims that she ran home immediately to put out the flames, but it was too late.

“I was in so much confusion and shock, seeing so much fire and so many people with buckets and basins of water trying to douse the fire, and I fainted.

“I was rushed to Katutura hospital, where I was treated for a few hours. Upon my return home, I was hoping it was just a dream,” Ndjamba said.

In a quavering voice, Ndjamba said: “With everything I lost, starting over is impossible because it took so much hard work and so many years to build the shack into a home.”

The mother of four now lives in a neighbor’s shack, while her children live with another neighbour. She says she is in unimaginable pain and would like to get help building another shack.

“We are a big family and settling in one house is a burden to the host, so we are scattered.

“My everyday concern is what they are eating for the day and whether they are having enough, because I’m unemployed. So is their father who was a taxi driver,” Ndjamba said.

“Can someone please help us get a CJ Brandt school uniform for my 18-year-old son and a Bunya Combined School uniform for my 15-year-old son in Kavango East,” she added.

Ndjamba said that her husband, who was a taxi cab driver, was in an accident earlier this year. The vehicle could not be fixed and he lost his job.

Fidel Mutambo’s cousin Ndjamba says she needs help because the fire has not been extinguished.

“Everything of hers burnt to ashes and she is, therefore, pleading for help from whoever can assist her in whatever way,” said Mutambo.
