Aspirant Watkins To Construct Cafeteria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p>MONROVIA-Montserrado County Electoral District #10 Representative aspirant, Y. Solomon W. Watkins has broken ground for the construction of a cafeteria to benefit hundreds of students attending the Peace Island Community public school located in\u00a0the\u00a0Congo Town area.<\/p>\n<p>Peace Island Community is commonly referred to as \u201c540 Community\u201d and is located in the Township of Congo Town, behind the US$60\u00a0million ministerial complex.\u00a0The community got its named \u201c540\u201d due to the huge settlement of disbanded officers of the Armed Forces of Liberia who received US$540 as resettlement benefits.<\/p>\n<p>The school\u00a0at\u00a0which aspirant Watkins\u00a0has\u00a0broken ground\u00a0was constructed under the leadership of\u00a0Representative Julius Berrian\u00a0(the late).<\/p>\n<p>The construction work\u00a0for the cafeteria began\u00a0on\u00a0June 27, 2022\u00a0minutes after\u00a0the ground breaking ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The project is expected to cost over 300,000 Liberian dollars\u00a0with support from aspirant Watkins through the Watkins Initiative For Nations (WIN)\u00a0in collaboration with the Student Council Government of the public school.<\/p>\n<p>Student Mercy Sondah, President of the Peace Island\u00a0Community School\u00a0termed the construction of the cafeteria by\u00a0Representative hopeful Watkins\u00a0as\u00a0a dream comes through\u00a0for\u00a0her leadership\u00a0at the\u00a0Peace Island Community\u00a0Public School.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the\u00a0Student\u00a0Council\u00a0Government\u00a0has identified that during recess hours, students of the school would have nowhere to sit beside their\u00a0class rooms to eat\u00a0lunch. The worst case, she pointed out, is when rain falls, the students would have nowhere accommodative,\u00a0a problem which the Student Council Government has purposed to solve in consultation with the school\u2019s\u00a0administration,\u00a0but to no avail until, the visiting team of Representative aspirant Watkins went on the campus\u00a0for an assessment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA team from\u00a0Watkins had\u00a0come to conduct assessment for the construction of a palaver hut\u00a0project,\u00a0after carrying out\u00a0donation of umbrella and other accessories amongst students\u00a0and residents\u00a0of\u00a0this community. Our visited also enable us\u00a0to\u00a0put the students\u2019 plight ahead which surrounded the construction of\u00a0our\u00a0cafeteria project. The good news is in less than\u00a0two\u00a0days, we received a call from Watkins that he will underwrite the cost of the project for which we have come to break ground. This makes me so proud of Watkins and don\u2019t know what to do this afternoon as we\u00a0break\u00a0ground\u00a0with the intent to\u00a0commence\u00a0work today,\u201d Student Mercy noted.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, welcoming aspirant Watkins on the school campus, the principal of the Public School, Madam A. Yeepleah Nuhn\u00a0thanked Watkins for aiding the\u00a0students\u00a0in the construction drive\u00a0of a cafeteria.<\/p>\n<p>She told the student\u00a0populace that Watkins has been a man of his word and if he says something, that\u2019s something to trust, as\u00a0such, his pledge to construct the cafeteria for the students,\u00a0should not be taking lightly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u00a0know you!\u00a0and\u00a0have\u00a0been hearing\u00a0a lot\u00a0of good things\u00a0about you. You someone who keep your promise to residents of our community and District 10, for this reason, I can say this project will be constructed and we all will be proud very soon,\u201d Principal Nuhn maintained.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the Montserrado County Electoral District # 10 Representative Aspirant, Y. Solomon W. Watkins vowed\u00a0to do more for the student community and residents of Peace Island (540)\u00a0as well as all other communities of District #10\u00a0at any given time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am glad that all of these good things are being said about me\u00a0by people of our district. We are grateful to the student community and will do everything in our power to protect your interests as always. Let me say to Mercy that before your leadership thought about reaching out to us, we have seen the construction of the\u00a0cafeteria and the palava\u00a0hut as needs based on our previous visit on your campus. But the good news is, you have made a choice,\u00a0for this,\u00a0we have all gathered here\u00a0to do what we are asked to do.
