The report linked Jeannie Cooper, Minister of Agriculture, to corruption.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In line with the act that established the LACC\u00a0 following its investigation on institutions including Government Ministries and Agencies that are managing pubic funds and hooked in alleged malpractice of corruption,\u00a0 to submit said finding to the Ministry of Justice for indictment and prosecution.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Ministry of Justice will also submit a report indicting the individuals being held responsible for the act to the president.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Margibi County Senator said Thursday, June 30, 20,22 on state radio that it would be prudent for Liberian Leaders to suspend Minister Cooper during their prosecution.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>According to him, the President should suspend those officials who are indicted to\u00a0\u00a0 have their day in court freely without working or heading such entity during their indictment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cMy perspective as a Senator and Chairman on Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery\u00a0 is\u00a0 that\u00a0 those who are affected, let\u00a0 the President endorse\u00a0 the report that will come at his desk\u00a0 through\u00a0 the Justice Ministry , and secondly,\u00a0 let the President suspend the Minister and\u00a0 those who are culpable\u00a0 to have their days in court\u201d ,he said.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Senator Tornonlah alleged that millions of United States Dollars go to the Ministry of Agriculture and the effect of the leadership is not being felt on the farmers in terms of the distribution of the resources that should make farmers more interested into agriculture development.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>He told\u00a0 the media\u00a0 that\u00a0 his committee was\u00a0 the first\u00a0 to unearth\u00a0 the act of corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture\u00a0 through\u00a0 their report\u00a0 to the Plenary\u00a0 that was indorsed and sent to the\u00a0 Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission\u00a0 for investigation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>However, Senator Tornonlah&#8217;s claim has not been independently verified by our institution.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newrepublicliberia.com\/suspend-minister-cooper\/\">New republic liberia<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By, Washington Tumay Watson-onewash9@gamil.com MONROVIA-The Liberian Senate Committee\u00a0\u00a0 Chairman on Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery Senator Jim Tornonlah has pushed for President George Weah to suspend Agriculture Minister Jeannie Cooper and others following the Ministry of Justice\u2019s submission of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission investigative reports on the Ministry of Agriculture.
