{"id":40596,"date":"2022-06-26T04:46:18","date_gmt":"2022-06-26T04:46:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africannewspaper.net\/2022\/06\/26\/what-you-missed-at-the-rwanda-fashion-week-runway-show\/"},"modified":"2022-06-26T04:46:33","modified_gmt":"2022-06-26T04:46:33","slug":"what-you-missed-at-the-rwanda-fashion-week-runway-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africannewspaper.net\/2022\/06\/26\/what-you-missed-at-the-rwanda-fashion-week-runway-show\/","title":{"rendered":"What you missed at the Rwanda Fashion Week runway show"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p>The Rwanda Fashion Week runway show that took place on June 23, at BK Arena, showcased local and international fashion, accessories, and interior designers from across the world, marking the \u00a0of the Fashion Week which was a side event of the Commonwealth Business Forum.<\/p>\n<p>As special guests, Prince Charles, Prince Of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess, of Cornwall, were present.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fashion Week began Monday at Atelier Kimihurura with showcasing designers and ended Thursday with a runway show.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the runway show, the Commonwealth market place and Photography exhibition took place from June 22-25 with over\u00a0800 delegates.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Collective Rw, the organizers, put on an amazing show. It was a celebration of fashion, innovation, and lighting.<\/p>\n<p>Formerly, Collective Rwanda Fashion Week, the fashion\u00a0show was inspired by the themes of CHOGM 2022 and featured both established and emerging designers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The meticulous fashion runaway brought together 16 brands from Africa, the Caribbean, and the United\u00a0Kingdom, with wonderful and creative work from the designers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/africannewspaper.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/7007f220-c3b9-4a8d-a9a9-48b0fc0e1041.jpeg\"><\/p>\n<p>Haute Baso (Sonia Mugabo), Inzuki, Rwanda Clothing and Uzi Collection were some of the local designers that took part in the show.<\/p>\n<p>International brands\u00a0included,\u00a0South Africa\u2019s Pichulik, Kenyan designers Kiko Romeo\u00a0and\u00a0Amu Clothing,\u00a0Keneea Linton George\u00a0from\u00a0Jamaica, Nigeria\u2019s Pepper Row and Dye Lab, Ghana\u2019s Larry Jay,\u00a0and designers from the UK, Georgia Hardinge, and Maximilian Raynor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>First on stage were Izubaa and Amike, their collection a mix of summer and office, next on the runaway was\u00a0Kiko Romeo\u00a0from Kenya and his style had a mix of their culture, the fabrics were amazing and the designs match each occasion.<\/p>\n<p>One of the highlights of the night was a pregnant model showcasing designs from Jamaica\u2019s Keneea Linton George. The designer\u2019s aim was to show women that they can embrace their pregnancy without shying away from fashion. Her collection also featured vibrant colors in yellow and green, which celebrated Jamaica&#8217;s unique resort life.<\/p>\n<p>The pregnant model was professional and elegant, surprising everyone with her confidence. The audience cheered her on for her creativity.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the designers on the runaway included Sonia Mugabo\u2019s designs which were a summer theme made of a thin material that meets the hot weather of summer and Larry Jay from Ghana, which portrayed the death-bride.<\/p>\n<p>DYE LAB one\u00a0of the designers from Nigeria\u00a0also graced the stage with a collection that\u00a0explored\u00a0the culture of Nigeria and with a touch of casual yet chic designs for both the office and ceremonies.<\/p>\n<p>In the spirit of letting people have an experience on the runaway, distinguished public figures like Sherrie Silver, Christelle Kabagire, Noella\u00a0A.
