Dr. Ibijoke Sanwoo-Olu, the wife of the Lagos State Governor, has visited three general hospitals in Lagos to welcome the First Child of the Year 2022.<\/p>\n

The first baby, a male, Abdul-Ganiyu, weighing 3.2kg, was delivered by Mrs. Sukurat Abdul-Ganiyu at Harvey Road Health Centre, Maternity, Yaba at fifteen minutes past midnight\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mrs. Adeola Ajila delivered another baby girl, baby Ajila, who weighed 2.5kg. She was the first baby born in 2022 at Onikan Health Centre.<\/p>\n

Also, a baby boy was delivered by Mrs. Simbiat Qudus Layembi at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital. He weighed 3.1kg.<\/p>\n

Sanwo stated that it has become a tradition for Lagos State Government to welcome the first baby on land each year.<\/p>\n

According to her, the joy of having a baby was something she enjoyed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a thing of joy when someone gave birth to a newborn baby, It\u2019s reminding us of new promises and new hope. Even though we think about all that has been accomplished in 2020 and 2021, God will bring in 2022 by giving us a baby. It\u2019s a sign of blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n

While presenting gifts to the babies, Sanwo-Olu urged mothers to register their babies in state hospitals and take advantage of the Lagos State Health Scheme, \u2018Ilera Eko\u2019. She also reminded the public about the importance of COVID 19. Prof. Akin Abayomi (Commissioner for Health) stated that the state government is always striving to have safe babies and that it also committed itself to improving its health services. This includes refurbishing medical facilities and providing infrastructure to make hospitals in the state more efficient and optimal.<\/p>\n
