{"id":21791,"date":"2022-03-23T14:43:30","date_gmt":"2022-03-23T14:43:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africannewspaper.net\/2022\/03\/23\/sh4-million-water-project-to-be-installed-in-a-school-kenya-news-agency\/"},"modified":"2022-03-23T14:44:00","modified_gmt":"2022-03-23T14:44:00","slug":"sh4-million-water-project-to-be-installed-in-a-school-kenya-news-agency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africannewspaper.net\/2022\/03\/23\/sh4-million-water-project-to-be-installed-in-a-school-kenya-news-agency\/","title":{"rendered":"Sh4 million water project to be installed in a school \u2013 Kenya News Agency"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p>After the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency, (CRVWWDA), rehabilitated a Sh4million water project in the area, learners from Kishemolouk secondary school and primary school in Narok West Sub County are able to breathe a sigh relief.<\/p>\n<p>The organization\u2019s Cooperate Services General Manager (GM) Douglas Mulei, said they installed the borehole after a request from the community members who said the school children were suffering because of lack of water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe board sat and decided to rehabilitate this borehole so as it can serve the residents who live in the wildlife dominated area. The children risked their lives as they walked far distances to look for the essential commodity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the solar-powered borehole has a capacity of producing 3 cubic meters of water per hour, which is sufficient to provide water for 800 pupils at the school. The package also contained a 10 000 liter water tank.<\/p>\n<p>Lonah Nkuwah (director at the CRVWWDA) said that the water was a great relief for the wildlife-dominated community of Narok County.<\/p>\n<p>She observed that students would travel long distances in search of the essential commodity, exposing them to a lot danger.<\/p>\n<p>The project will benefit the girl child,\u00a0who suffered a great deal during the days she received her monthly period because there was no enough water for bathing and cleaning her clothes.<\/p>\n<p>Judy Karwarwa is the head teacher at Kishemolouk Primary School. She said that the water project was a game-changer that will improve learning in the school.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that the water shortage caused learners to go to the river about two kilometers away three times per day, thus wasting their time in class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first round would be to fetch water for the general cleaning, the second round they would fetch water for their personal hygiene while the last lap they would fetch water for cooking,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The school&#8217;s water supply will help increase student concentration and school population, as well as improve overall performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a joy to have clean water in our school. It is a dream come true today. We are so happy and believe we will boost our school performance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Nayari Kotik, a parent at the school, admitted that the water challenge was a major challenge in the school and made many pupils, particularly the girls, miss school for many days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a big relief to our school.
