After sitting day one papers, Embu was reported missing by Kakindu Primary School, Gikuru Sub-location of Mwea Sub-county.
According to Charles Ngari (area Chief), Kennedy Macharia Kanini, 17, vanished after he was sent by his mom to fetch water at Thiba River with an ox cart at 5pm.
He claimed that the boy never returned home, prompting villagers to launch a search for him. They only found his shoes along with the cart by the river.
The Chief stated that they can’t rule out drowning in the river, given the shoes that were left behind. He also suggested that crocodiles and hippos could have attacked him.
He stated that search efforts have been launched for the missing boy.
