Showbiz week review

It’s an entertainment-packed weekend around Kigali and upcountry,  with a number of headliners looking to light up the country with entertaining performances.

There have been a few showbiz news stories throughout the week.

 

The New Times looks at the most trending showbiz stories that shaped this week.

 

Clement, Knowless in Europe for Holidays

 

After a busy six months recording music at Kina Music, producer Clement Ishimwe and his wife Knowless Butera are off to Europe to enjoy the their holidays.

The couple left Kigali on Friday for Brussels and were spotted on Saturday enjoying a day at the beach. Reports suggest that they will also be attending the Afro Nation festival taking place in Portugal during their stay.

The celebrity couple that got married in 2016 is the lovebirds. They have tried to keep their private lives from the media.   

Danny Vumbi is without his mother

After the death of his mother earlier in the week, Danny Vumbi may be facing the most difficult time of his life.

The cause of her death is not known yet but people in the deceased’s neighborhood reportedly linked it to witchcraft. In a speech he gave after the burial, however, the singer quickly dismissed these rumors.  

The likes of Bruce Melodie, Producer Element and Mico The Best were among artists who attended the burial of Vumbi’s mother held at the singer’s birthplace in Kinyebebe, a centre located in Kabatwa Sector of Nyabihu District.  

Miss Rwanda Kayibanda Anore spotted in town

It’s been about six years since US-based Miss Rwanda 2012 Aurore Kayibanda Mutesi last appeared in her home country.

The beauty queen in town and was spotted at Camp Kigali watching French Zouk musician Slai and Uganda singer Lilian Mbabazi performing live at Friday’s Kigali Jazz Junction concert.

She returns in the country for the first time, since her breakup with ex-husband Egide Mbabazi last year, which marked the end of three years since the couple vowed to spend the rest of their life in a marriage that took place in the United States back in March 2018.

It is not clear if Kayibanda is doing anything in the country besides visiting her family.

Kevin Kade tried to escape from re-arrest

Kevin Kade, a fast-rising artist, said that he was not trying to avoid being re-arrested days after Davis D and he were released from detention.

They were initially suspected of defiling, but they were later released by the court after it failed to find sufficient evidence to support their allegations.

Kade went to Dubai and Kenya Days following his release. Reports from earlier this year suggested that Kade had fled the country to avoid being remanded in custody.

However, the singer denied the rumors and said that he was traveling to the country to work with his music projects. The court clarified that he had never met Shazz, the girl that he was alleged was his defilement.
