HONG KONG (Xinhua), July 1Friday’s statement by Xi Jinping, Chinese President, highlighted the need to faithfully and fully implement the “one-country, two-systems” policy.
Xi made the remarks during the meeting that celebrated the 25th anniversary Hong Kong’s independence from the motherland. Also, the inaugural ceremony of a sixth-term government for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was held.
The policy’s central principle is to uphold national sovereignty, security, and development interests. He noted that Macao and Hong Kong have maintained their capitalist system for the long-term and enjoy a high degree autonomy.
