Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo of ONDONGA has described Vilhokamanja, the former chairperson of Ondonga’s traditional council, as a strong and principled leader.
This was Nangolo’s statement at Kamanja’s funeral service held Friday at Onyaanya village in Oshikoto.
“He was a trustful and retentive person,” Nangolo said.
Hilma Kamanja, Kamanja’s wife, described her husband Hilma as a good advisor who likes order.
“He was patient and did not put himself first,” she said in her speech, read on her behalf by Lea Namupala, a relative.
The couple were married in September 1977 at Oshigambo which is also located in the Oshikoto area.
Kamanja served also as Oshikoto’s governor from 1999 to 2004, and Onyaanya Councillor from 1992 until 2004.
He died at the age 74 in a northern hospital on 31 December 2013.
President Hage Geingob has this week conducted an official funeral for him.
His remains were buried at Onyaanya cemetery on Saturday.
