13 Arrested On Multiple Crimes

Buchanan – Grand Bassa County: Police in Buchanan have arrested and forwarded to Court 13 persons for their alleged involvement in the violent acts recently exhibited at the St. John River City in Grand Bassa County.
Marthaline Sumo and Power Smith were arrested along with Edith Togba and Promise Charles. Darius Koon was also arrested.
Others include Eric Harris and TogarMongar. Jacob Juah Shadrach Moses and Mark Timothy.
According to the Police Charged sheet, the 13 individuals were charged with multiple offences, including arson, theft of property, and rioting.
According to the Police Charged Sheet, the defendants were arrested in Fortville by an officer of Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency with Marijuana at the Police checkpoint on January 18, 2023.
According to the Police Charged Sheet, one suspect ran away during interrogation and reportedly jumped in the St. John River. He is still being sought by family and Police sources.
They encouraged the defendants, knowing and intending to do so, after hearing the situation. This resulted in the setting on fire of a Liberia Joint Security building valued at one million five hundred thousands United States Dollars (1.5m).
According to the Police the defendants also allegedly took properties that were not related acts they considered illegal.
The Police charge sheet also states that the acts of the defendants are contrary to Chapter 17, subsection 17.1, Chapter 15. Sub Sections 15.5,15.1, or 15.51 of Liberia’s Panel Laws.
In the meantime, the 13 defendants who denied the charges are currently being held at the Upper Buchanan Central Prison, Buchanan Grand Bassa County in Liberia, awaiting trial.
