As one of Angola’s key players across the oil and gas value chain, French multinational integrated energy and petroleum company, TotalEnergies (https://TotalEnergies.com/Angola), will participate as a gold sponsor at this year’s edition of Angola Oil & Gas (AOG) conference and exhibition (https://bit.ly/3SQfbeb), which will take place from November 29 to December 1 this year in Luanda.

Representing one of Africa’s biggest oil producers, Angola’s industry success can largely be attributed to the active role TotalEnergies has played.

The French energy major has taken a market-driven approach to the upstream sector, driving a series exploration campaigns that have resulted in significant discoveries. Examples include the Cameia-Golfinho deepwater development in Block 20/11 – estimated to hold approximately 420 million barrels of oil equivalent – as well as the Chissonga field development in Block 16.

What’s more, TotalEnergies has accelerated the development of a number of key oil and gas projects in Angola, ushering in a new era of production growth for the southern African country. This year, the energy major announced a $850 million final investment decision (FID) for the Begonia oil development, the first development on Block 17/06, as well as FID for the Quiluma and Maboqueiro projects, Angola’s first non-associated natural gas projects. These projects not only showcase TotalEnergies’ commitment to bringing African oil and gas projects online but emphasize the role Angolan oil and gas projects will play in improving energy security in Africa.

TotalEnergies is expected be at the forefront in upstream campaigns, as the country continues to expand exploration. As such, the participation of TotalEnergies as a gold sponsor at AOG 2022 will be key for improving upstream dialogue, as well as shaping discussions around increasing exploration and production in an energy transition era.

Meanwhile, across the midstream and downstream sectors, TotalEnergies has been instrumental in improving the processing, distribution and marketing of oil and gas products, having established itself as one of Angola’s top spenders in the hydrocarbon infrastructure industry. As a gold sponsor at AOG 2022, TotalEnergies will have access to exclusive networking forums and panel discussions where the major will provide an update of current project rollout while promoting its future prospects within Angola’s rapidly growing oil and gas sector.

However, TotalEnergies’ activities in the Angolan energy sector transcend the oil and gas industry, with the company having recently launched its multi-energy strategy, incorporating renewable energy projects in its portfolio. The energy giant announced in July 2022 that it had begun construction of the 35MWp Quilemba solar plant. The project, which is expected to be online in 2023 will add an additional 45MWp in its next phase. Projects like this will be crucial as Angola continues to make progress in its energy transition and looks to add more renewable energy to its energy mix.

As a gold sponsor, TotalEnergies will participate in high-level meetings, panel discussions and investor summits, highlighting the company’s project pipeline, the role Angolan energy plays in alleviating energy poverty and how international oil companies can drive local content, infrastructure rollout and energy security in 2022 and beyond.
